Synchronous replication allows data to be stored on multiple StorTrends appliances at multiple sites, which enables highest availability and disaster recovery. Asynchronous replication bunches together IOs and sends them to the secondary after a small time lag, boosting network utilization efficiency for those customers who are willing to tolerate a few seconds’ worth of data loss.

Thin provisioning enables the administrator to create and manage storage volumes without restrictions. The provisioned volume size can be significantly larger than current physical storage capacity: administrators can purchase additional storage as their needs grow.

Advanced snapshot features Redirect on Write (ROW)technology. Administrators have the ability to schedule snapshots for SAN and NAS and rollback to any snapshot in under a second. Snapshot creation takes less than half-a-second. StorTrends iTX supports taking SAN snapshots using Microsoft® VSS snapshot technology or through agents specific for application servers like Exchange Server and Oracle®. SQL Server is supported through VSS. Microsoft VSS based snapshots support agent-less LAN-free backup.

With Snap-assisted Replication snapshots of the primary system are replicated in chronological order to the secondary. In the event of a failover, the system will automatically recover to the latest available consistent Snapshot image. Consistency Groups assure application-aware Snapshots.
